What was surprising was that all the industry experts were unable to say how things are going to turn out since the new lay has been passed.

The definition of an ACO might differ slightly depending on who you talk to. In another MAS blog, the end results and benefits were identified as an ACO being”… technology-dependent, requiring good healthcare data to identify the patients and communities most in need, as well as electronic patient records immediately accessible to all doctors and hospitals treating a patient.”

To help educate all of us, Bill is launching an MAS blog series focusing on ACOs, presenting the pros, cons and some food for thought. We’d love to hear what you think in the process, so be sure to post your comments, ask questions and share with others!

Stay tuned for the first installment “ACOs-Accountable Care Organization’s Part 1- The Pros for Them”

The post MAS takes a closer look at ACOs-Accountable Care Organizations first appeared on Medical Account Solutions.

<post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">1485</post-id>

MAS Partners with Compass Workforce Solutions & CMIT Solutions of South Nassau to educate Medical Interns!

Webmaster

Events

News

Armando D'Accordo

Bill Baylis

Christine Ippolito

MAS

Medical Account Solutions

practice management

your other billing office

Bill Baylis of MAS was proud to team up with Christine Ippolito and Armando D'Accordo to share their knowledge with Medical interns

The post MAS Partners with Compass Workforce Solutions & CMIT Solutions of South Nassau to educate Medical Interns! first appeared on Medical Account Solutions.

Bill Baylis of Medical Account Solutions was proud to team up with Christine Ippolito, SPHR of Compass Workforce Solutions and Armando D’Accordo of CMIT Solutions of South Nassau to share their knowledge with Medical interns at South Nassau Hospital on the subjects of Medical Billing Outsourcing, Employer Obligations and IT Disaster Recovery.

This dynamic, interactive yet informative presentation can be viewed here, but it doesn’t compare to having these three industry experts present live. Now that its sale to Steward Health Care System LLC, a newly formed affiliate of Cerberus Capital Management, L.P. is complete, the Caritas system will operate as the largest for-profit healthcare network in New England, WBUR reports.

Cerberus, which doesn’t have experience buying hospitals–and which, perhaps, is best known for buying an equity stake in Chrysler as it was going down the tubes–gets a hospital system that is nearly $500 million in debt.

I am thinking we all should take note here that big investors are putting their capital into healthcare and ACO’s. Perhaps the tides are turning and healthcare if becoming a safe place for investment. With much uncertainty overseas investing in healthcare makeovers can be a safer bet. What are your thoughts?

The article goes on: It looks like Cerberus deal makers are hoping to make money off the healthcare reform by creating a Steward Health Care accountable care organization. Dr. Ralph de la Torre, Caritas CEO, who will stay on, notes that they are “investing in the Caritas hospitals for the long term and building a strong, community-based ACO.”

To read more visit FierceHealthcare post: Cerberus sets its sights on ACO makeover for Caritas

The post Is big business looking to cash in on ACO and healthcare reform? first appeared on Medical Account Solutions.

<post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">1349</post-id>

MAS to be Spotlighted at the next HBA meeting

Webmaster

Events

News

Uncategorized

Bill Baylis

MAS

Medical Account Solutions

Your Medical Billing Office

Bill Baylis, President of Medical Account Solutions will be speaking at the next Health and Business Alliance (HBA) networking meeting on Friday , January 7th at 8:30 am. We get scared of letting go and delegating to others. Because we’re afraid that things won’t be done right and that our customers are gonna be the ones to suffer.

Doctor’s are no different. Some doctors run their medical offices this way. They are almost too involved in the administrative things and aspects of running their practice and it gets in the way of patient. They are concerned about outsourcing their medical billing or other administrative tasks.

Other doctors, especially those in multi doctor practices hire staff in house to manage the administrative things, but it’s still hard for them to let go and their staff to get overwhelmed with things like following up with patient billing, the back and forth with insurance companies. These time consuming activities–especially those for medical billing–can make it harder to focus on the core functions of their practice–patient care.

But the truth is if we don’t learn to delegate and get the support we need it’s going to be hard for us to grow. So learn to let go and outsource the things that are taking up too much time for your practice.

Outsourcing to me Bill Baylis and my company MAS to manage your accounts and receivables and medical billing will make it easier for you and your staff to focus on the more important aspects of your practice—your patients.

The post Letting Go to Grow first appeared on Medical Account Solutions.

<post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">977</post-id>

Holding on to the Passion

Bill Baylis

Ideas

accounts receivable

Bill Baylis

Certified Billing Professionals

Follow-up Billing

healthcare benefits

Improve cash flow

long island

long island medical billing

MAS

maximize collections

maximize patient revenue

Medical Account Solutions

outsourcing

physician billing

practice management

Rural sourcing

streamling

Your Medical Billing Office

your other billing office

Most doctors don't realize how much administrative work is involved in being able to take care of their patients by having to deal with the insurance companies and all of the rules and clerical things that come into play in order for them to deliver services.

So what's the solution? When MAS decided it was time to lend our talent and expand our client base toward doctor groups and individual practitioners, we knew that there we some misconceptions about outsourcing. We knew we would have to help to change the culture of what outsourcing really does.

At MAS we consider ourselves a “medical billing company”. Medical billing companies do much more then offer the choice of keeping your billing staff in-house or sending your accounts receivable out. Hospitals have been using medical billing agencies since the 1970’s. They have learned to use each agency to complement their own expertise and weaknesses.

For instance, hospitals have reversed the trend of outsourcing all of their in-patient billing so they can put a concentrated effort on receivables by putting their best and brightest to streamline and maximize that part of the A/R.

It’s a good policy because it puts them in control of their own destiny. They can directly manage the bread and butter of how a hospital will pay their payroll and important bills. However, most hospitals are smart enough to know they can’t do it all. For some hospitals, it’s best to send their no-fault billing to a qualified billing company because of the legal knowledge neededd to get these claims paid.

Companies like MAS are looking to change the face of outsourcing to let doctors and doctor groups know that its not all or nothing! We are here to help grow your business.

When you learn to properly delegate the areas that you aren’t strong in, you can focus on your strengths and leverage your team where they can produce the best results for you!

The post Outsourcing: Is it all or nothing? One of my favorite lessons is project management. When the ball flies up in the air, the players know their range and how far they are playing. If they come close to another player they call for the ball and back the other person off. It’s like poetry in motion when done right.

Everyone knows what their role is and what’s expected. Good project management involves clarity on the strengths of each team member and what their responsibilities are. So when MAS works with its clients everyone is clear on what their area of expertise is and who’ll “get the ball”. Working with MAS is good “profit management.”

MAS clients get to focus more on their patients and worry less about their medical billing needs because we’re on the ball. We focus on making sure that bills go out in a timely fashion, that payments are properly collected and that profit recovery is maximized.

Having MAS take the lead on medical billing means we look at all aspects from the medical billing process, streamlining resources, maximizing physician practice revenue and overall practice management.

Our doctors get to focus on what they do best—taking care of their patients. A win-win for everyone.

The post Whose Ball is It?
